One of the things that happens frequently is when I finally ask a sales associate for help,
the item I was looking for can be found quite nearby or is RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME.
Today was no exception.
After walking ALL OVER the store, I saw a "personal shopper" and thought, oh she'll know...
"Excuse me, could you please point me in the direction of the lamps?"
With no words, but the sweetest, slyest smile, she pointed over my shoulder.
Yep. Directly behind me. The whole row of shelves covered with lamps.
I laughed. She laughed. We laughed some more together.
And then I thanked her and said she had a good story for the break room today.
She gave me grace and just replied, "It happens all the time."
Then I made her take a photo with me to send to my sister and daughter so they could have a laugh too.
We parted ways with her saying, "Have a blessed day!"
and me telling her that she and this event were definitely God's good gift of joy and laughter to me.
This turned into a long story about me not seeing the lamps right in front of/beside me.
But I think my point is that often I miss out on God's good gifts because I'm looking around frantically.
For something else. Or thinking about something else.
Which is why I continue to intentionally count these good gifts after all these years.
Lord, open my eyes to see your GOODNESS and JOY all around me.
Even in crowded stores and my even more crowded mind and heart.
